Morriston 2nds 21 Ystradgynlais Athletic 3

Ystrad Athletics dip in form continued on the weekend with a loss away to Morriston.

The game was played in wet boggy conditions, which slowed down both sides, but to the credit of Morriston they adapted better and dominated the set piece pinching both line outs and scrums from the Blues put in.

Morriston also found gaps in the Blues defence constantly with many half-hearted tackles being attempted by the Ystrad players. Morriston also managed to disrupt the ruck area with Justin Parson and Rhodri Phillips having to dig for the ball with no protection from the pack.

Ystrad did manage to score three points through the reliable boot of Cellan Morgan, when he slotted over a powerfully struck penalty.

The enthusiasm from earlier in the season and lack of commitment seems to be a major factor in the last two defeats. This seems like madness with the cup semi final this week and a genuine chance of silverware if the right attitude and approach is brought to the game.

The Athletic play Morriston 2nds in the Swansea & District cup semi final on Wednesday April 2^nd at 7pm at Vadre RFC. All support will be welcome!
