Ystrad maintained their place at the top of Division 5 south west and again did it with a desire to play attractive rugby. Their impressive win against an improved Pontardawe side showed their desire to win the title that they have thrown away the previous two seasons.

The star of the show was hooker Christopher Thomas, who used his experience and to make yards and stamp authority on the game. He was rewarded with two excellent tries.

The Blues other tries came from Richard Lougher, veteran Dai Love, pocket dynamo Jamie Roberts and unstoppable centre Kieron Jones. H Evans converted four of the tries to round off an impressive away win.

Ystrad now need five points from the remaining two games to secure promotion, but must maintain a 100% record to win the title and bring the trophy home to people of Ystrad!

Ystrad’s next fixture is Wednesday April 23^rd against Cefneithin in the West Wales plate final at Stardey Park. Kick Off 7pm.
